Group Questions

Dangerous Waters - March 3

DESCRIPTION

“Honesty is the best policy”—for life change. It enables us to peer into our hearts and see our nature as it truly is, deceitful and prone to distraction. Being honest with ourselves is the first step toward leading a focused life for Jesus.

QUESTIONS

1. Analyze your life-what is distracting you? What are we choosing to believe when we chose to drift?

2. Are there areas in your life where you are more easily distracted than others? Why?

3. Or does your distraction happen during certain times versus in certain areas? How can understanding the triggers of distraction help you stay focused?

4. Drifting is passive-we give up control to the situation, the feeling, or to others. However, we still believe we are in control. Discuss the dichotomy between drifting and control.

5. Compare and contrast the characteristics of an unfocused life and a focused life. What are the outcomes of each? How do they differ? Why, then, do we continue to choose to live a distracted life?

6. What is preventing you from being the person Jesus demonstrated for us? What hidden sin is pulling you away from God?

APPLICATION

Get honest in areas where you deceive yourself. Turn toward Jesus and focus on Him. Run the race set before you with perseverance and focus.
