Someone Is on the Other Side of Your Yes

Scripture:

“Paul wanted to take him along on the journey, so he circumcised him because of the Jews who lived in that area… So the churches were strengthened in the faith and grew daily in numbers.” – Acts 16:1–5 (NIV)

Think:

Before you think about what following Jesus may cost you, remember what someone else was willing to give so you could find Him.

Someone made room for you. Someone prayed when you did not know you needed prayer. Someone showed up early, stayed late, opened a door, taught a lesson, extended an invitation, or kept loving you when it would have been easier to walk away.

Someone’s yes helped lead you to Jesus.

Now it was Timothy’s turn.

The church had already settled the question: Timothy did not need circumcision to be saved. Jesus had done everything necessary to bring him near to God. But because Timothy’s father was Greek, Jewish communities might reject him before they ever heard the gospel he carried.

Timothy could have said, This is unfair. I shouldn’t have to do this. And he would have been right.

But there was something he wanted more than being right.

He wanted people to know Jesus.

So Timothy willingly accepted pain he was not required to endure because someone else’s eternity mattered more to him than his own comfort. He could not see the faces of everyone his obedience would reach. He did not know their names or their stories. He only knew there were people ahead who desperately needed the hope he carried.

There is someone ahead of you too.

Someone who may walk into church already believing no one will notice them. Someone near you is smiling while quietly falling apart. Someone you love may be closer to surrendering to Jesus than you realize. They may be one invitation, one conversation, one act of kindness, or one faithful yes away from discovering that God has not forgotten them.

And perhaps God has placed you in their path.

The thing He asks of you may feel inconvenient. It may interrupt your plans, stretch your heart, or require you to move beyond what feels safe. But what feels like an interruption to you may become an intersection with grace for them.

One day, you may stand in heaven and meet someone who says, You didn’t know what I was carrying. You didn’t know how close I was to giving up. But you noticed me. You invited me. You made room for me. And because you said yes, I found my way to Jesus.

Your yes may cost you something.

But remember—someone once said yes for you.

Application:

Who might be waiting on the other side of your obedience? Say their name before God, then take the step today. Make the call. Send the invitation. Choose the inconvenience. Show up and make room.

Prayer:

Jesus, thank You for every person whose yes helped lead me to You. Make me willing to do the same for someone else. Interrupt my comfort, open my eyes, and use my ordinary obedience to help someone find their way home. Amen.
