Not Yet
Scripture: Acts 17:32–34
“Some of them sneered, but others said, ‘We want to hear you again on this subject.’ … Some of the people became followers of Paul and believed.” – Acts 17:32, 34
Think:
Some rejected Paul’s message. Some believed it. But others said, “We want to hear you again.”
They were not saying no to Jesus.
They were saying, Not yet.
Not yet feels harmless. It sounds thoughtful, cautious, even responsible. But “not yet” can quietly become the place where obedience goes to die.
Maybe there is something Jesus has been asking of you. Forgive them. Confess it. Let it go. Take the step. Come back to Me.
You have not refused Him. You intend to obey—eventually. You are simply waiting until it feels easier, costs less, or makes more sense.
But what if the right time is not coming?
What if the conversation never becomes comfortable? What if you never feel completely ready? What if the courage you are waiting to feel only comes after you take the first step?
We often imagine that delayed obedience leaves us exactly where we are. It does not. Every time we hear God’s voice and choose to wait, our hearts become a little more practiced at ignoring Him. What once brought conviction slowly becomes easier to live around.
That is the quiet danger of not yet.
Jesus did not postpone coming for you. He did not wait until the cross was less painful or your heart was more deserving. He came while you were still lost. He carried your sin, entered the grave, and rose again so you could be made new.
He has already given you His yes.
How long will you keep withholding yours?
You do not need to know every step that follows. You only need to take the one He has placed in front of you today.
Someday is not where transformation begins.
It begins now.
Application:
What have you been promising Jesus you will do “someday”? Name it honestly, and take one step of obedience before today ends.
Prayer:
Jesus, forgive me for calling delay wisdom when it is really fear. You did not hesitate to come for me. Give me the courage to stop saying “not yet” and give You my yes today. Amen.
