Who Will Hear Because You Told Them?

Scripture:

“As Paul and Barnabas were leaving the synagogue, the people invited them to speak further about these things on the next Sabbath… On the next Sabbath almost the whole city gathered to hear the word of the Lord.” – Acts 13:42–44

Think:

The service ended, but the message kept moving.

The people followed Paul and Barnabas out of the synagogue, asking them to return and tell them more. They had heard that Jesus was alive, that the cross covered every sin, and that everyone who believed could be made right with God.

Then, during the week between those two Sabbaths, people started talking.

Someone went home and told a spouse. Someone found a neighbor. Someone walked into work still thinking about the word forgiven. A Gentile who had always felt like an outsider told another outsider, “This promise is for us too.”

By the next Sabbath, almost the whole city was waiting to hear the Word of the Lord.

Think about how you first heard the gospel—not the first time the words reached your ears, but the moment they began to reach your heart. Whose voice did God use? Who invited you, prayed for you, opened a Bible with you, or kept loving you when you were not ready to listen?

Your life may be different today because someone decided not to keep Jesus to themselves.

Now picture the people God has placed around you. The neighbor whose pain you have noticed. The coworker who has started asking questions. The family member you love but hesitate to approach. The person who appears fine but may be quietly wondering whether hope is still possible for someone like them.

You do not know what God is already stirring in their heart. You do not know how close they may be to saying yes. Your invitation may feel small to you, but it could become part of the moment that changes everything for them.

Paul and Barnabas preached in the synagogue, but ordinary people carried the news through the city. The crowd gathered on the next Sabbath because someone spoke during the week.

The gospel reached you on its way to someone else.

It was never meant to settle comfortably inside your life. The forgiveness that lifted your guilt, the grace that brought you home, and the risen Jesus who gave you hope are meant to move through you toward another person.

One day, someone may tell the story of how they found Jesus—and your name may be part of it.

Application:

Ask God to place one person clearly on your heart. Pray for them by name, contact them, and invite them to come hear about the Jesus who changed your life.

Prayer:

Jesus, thank You for the people who carried the gospel to me. Give me the love and courage to carry it to the person You have placed within my reach. Amen.
