When You Finally See His Face
Scripture:
“For He has set a day when He will judge the world with justice by the Man He has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising Him from the dead.” – Acts 17:31
Think:
There are wounds in your life that no one ever made right.
Someone walked away without apologizing. A lie was believed. A wrong was hidden. The person who hurt you continued with life while you were left carrying the weight of what they did.
Maybe you have wondered, Does God see? Does any of this matter to Him?
Paul answers: God has set a day.
There is a day when every hidden thing will be brought into the light. Every tear that fell unnoticed will be accounted for. Every wrong will be judged with perfect justice.
Nothing has been forgotten.
But that truth becomes uncomfortable when we remember that we have not only been wounded. We have wounded others.
There are words we would give anything to take back. People we failed to love. Private compromises no one knows about. Moments when we knew what was right and chose ourselves anyway.
One day, we will stand before Jesus with no image to maintain, no comparison to hide behind, and no excuse left to offer. We will finally see His face—and He will see everything.
If Jesus were only Judge, that thought would be unbearable.
But the Judge has scars.
The hands that will hold your life’s record are the same hands that were pierced to pay for it. Jesus did not ignore your sin or pretend it did not matter. He carried its full weight to the cross. The judgment you deserved fell on Him so mercy could be offered to you.
Then He walked out of the grave.
The resurrection is God’s declaration that Jesus is not simply a comforting figure we can fit into our lives. He is the risen King. Death could not keep Him, evil will not defeat Him, and every person will one day stand before Him.
We live as though there will always be more time—another Sunday, another chance to forgive, another opportunity to surrender. But there is a final day on God’s calendar, even though it is not written on ours.
One day, you will see Jesus face-to-face.
You will see the eyes that watched over you through every night you thought you were alone. You will hear the voice that kept calling you home. And you will see the scars that prove just how far He was willing to go to save you.
Do not wait until that day to fall at His feet.
Fall there now.
Today, the Judge is still offering to be your Savior. Today, His scarred hands are open. Today, grace is calling your name.
Application:
If you stood before Jesus today, what would you be trusting to save you—your goodness or His finished work? Stop postponing the surrender, forgiveness, or obedience He is asking from you. Come to Him while grace is still called “today.”
Prayer:
Jesus, when I finally see Your face, I want to be found trusting completely in You. Thank You for bearing the judgment I deserved and offering me mercy I could never earn. Teach me to live today ready to meet You. Amen.
